This Week on “Confessions of a small business owner”

Welcome back to another week of Confessions.

Life has been such a blur lately. That's one thing about running a business, when you have personal life issues getting in the way it really impacts your business, but you can't let it because that's how you pay your bills, right?

So let's see, what’s going on. I resolved my dispute that I talked about maybe about a month ago where the girl said her purchase was fraud. It was resolved in my favor so Amen, Hallelujah!! I did get my money back in my account.

Something else that happened is I went to my personal PO Box, which led me to a story. I opened this PO Box originally for my business. But something that I eventually learned is that you cannot run a business from a PO box. So, tip of the day or tip of the week: make sure you have a mailbox for your business. This way, you will have an actual physical address for your business for packages to be returned and mailed from. You don’t want to use your home address. Trust me. Some people have actually asked if they can come to my office so you don’t want someone to be able to know where you live.

Also, it looks more professional when the return address is a physical address instead of a PO Box.

During the past three weeks, I took a break. A break from business, a break from life really. Taking breaks is okay!!! And often necessary. I really haven’t wanted to do anything except lay on the couch and watch Lifetime. I still want to do that. But you eventually have to pick yourself up and do something. Get to work. When you lack motivation, you will need discipline.

Recently, I was looking at another company’s social media and felt inspired. It’s okay to be inspired by another company. But don’t try to steal their ideas.

Yall, why did the girl who said she never received her package, the one from Dubai, I believe I talked about her in episode one, tell me she wants to order something else because the one she got is a little tight for her. WOOOOOOWWWWW… The truth always comes out.

Over the past few weeks I’ve gotten more DMs to “collab”. I don’t understand how people say they can create authentic content for my brand when they’ve never used anything from my brand. See image below:

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see how you can create something authentically for something you’ve never experienced.
