Hibiscus Iced Tea Recipe
Ingredients:
7 cups of hot water
1 ¾ cups dried hibiscus flowers
¾ cup sugar (preferably organic cane sugar)
Instructions:
Boil the water: Bring 7 cups of water to a boil in a pot or kettle.
Prepare the pitcher: While the water is boiling, pour ¾ cup of sugar into your pitcher. Set aside.
Measure the hibiscus: Pour 1 ¾ cups of dried hibiscus flowers into your infuser or tea filter. Tip: Do this over the sink or trash can, as some petals might spill.
Dissolve the sugar: Once the water is boiling, pour about 1 cup of the hot water into the pitcher to dissolve the sugar. Stir until fully dissolved.
Brew the tea: Place the hibiscus-filled infuser back in the pitcher and pour the remaining hot water over it.
Let it steep: Allow the tea to steep. For best flavor, I recommend letting it sit overnight at room temperature.
Chill and serve: After steeping, remove the infuser and discard the used flowers. Place the tea in the refrigerator until completely cold. Serve over ice and enjoy!
Note: This process can get a little messy, so take your time and be careful when handling the hot water and loose flowers.
