Confessions of a Small Business Owner - Part 20: Getting Back in the Groove + Don't Get Scammed

Hey there,

Welcome back to Confessions.

Life. That’s really all I have to say.

This one is going to be short and honest—because that’s where I’m at right now. I’m just getting back in my groove after falling off a bit. I’ve been neglecting myself, and if I’m being real, it’s shown up in my business.

But here’s the truth: if you have a goal, a business, a dream—whatever it is—if you want it to grow, you have to feed it with consistent effort. You’ve got to show up for it, even when you don’t feel like it.

And it’s okay to fall. It’s okay to take breaks. What matters is that you get back up.

There’s a quote I love:
"If you fall, fall on your back—because if you can look up, you can get up."

Even on the days where content creation feels like the last thing you want to do, do it anyway. Consistency doesn’t mean perfection—it just means not quitting.

Also, a quick PSA for my fellow small business owners: stay alert for scams. I’ve seen people trying to run game through fake SBA (Small Business Administration) contracts and “grant opportunities.” If it feels sketchy, it probably is. Always go directly through SBA.gov and never pay to access what’s supposed to be a free government service.

Be the you that makes you the happiest!!

Let’s take care of ourselves, keep learning, and keep showing up—for our goals and our peace.

XO,
Alisha Michelle
