Confessions of a Small Business Owner
December 7, 2024 - Part/Vlog 16: Pivot, Adapt, and Grow
Hey y'all, how have you been??? How’s the small business world? I’m back with another episode of Confessions. I’m here just blogging and vlogging.
As a business owner, in this current climate, my emotions literally change minute to minute. My life is allllllll over the place.
With being all over the place comes pivoting, shifting, and flowing as necessary. I've been trying to look at this business journey using Google Maps and following the route to the end of the destination. Sometimes we take wrong turns and the map never stops, your car doesn't cut off. You keep going until you get to your destination.
Don’t let people fool you into thinking running a business is easy, running a business is for everyone. Social media will have you believing everyone is a millionaire and business is thriving. The truth is business ownership is HARD and not for the weak, but it is rewarding.
This is your reminder to make sure you are thanking your customers and supporters. We live in a capitalist society so people have options and the fact that they are choosing you is kind of a big deal.
Something else I wanted to pass on is to remember that “followers” and “likes” aren’t as important as so many people put an emphasis on. I’ve been learning the biggest influence in growing your brand is referrals and customer testimonies, so I am going to start sharing more testimonies on my social media and YouTube.
If you participated in Black Friday sales, I hope you kicked ass and I am sending you nothing but energy and vibes of abundance.
I started something new. Going to the local coffee shop to work on some business things, just to get out of my home. I work from home so I’m there a lot. Getting outside has helped me to handle more tasks and focus. I am also working on a plan to create my content on Sundays. Just do a week of content in a few days.
Something else I wanted to talk about really quickly is people taking your ideas. Like literally. There is this woman who posts everything I post. It’s weird, annoying, and flattering at the same time.
That’s all for now. Make sure to be the you that makes you the happiest!! Love ya.
Drink your water and mind your business.
