Confessions 19: March 15, 2025 | Discouragement, Features & Plan B! 💭📖
Hey, hey, hey! Welcome back to Confessions of a Small Business Owner with me, Alisha Michelle!
This is where I share the ups, downs, and real moments from my small business journey—because let’s be honest, no matter what social media tries to sell us, we’re all figuring it out as we go. You are not alone!
In this episode, I’m reflecting on my last confession, dealing with discouragement, becoming an Amazon Associate, understanding what it really means to be featured in a magazine, and questioning the whole Plan B mindset.
After my last episode, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I might’ve shared too much—but hey, these are confessions, right? Do you ever catch yourself oversharing and then overthinking it?
Social media can be tough. Seeing unfollows, noticing someone who once hyped my brand now promoting another, or even watching similar brands throw shade at products like mine—it gets to me. And sometimes, I wonder… is it time to move on from a certain business chapter?
But let’s talk wins! I just got my first Amazon Associates payout! 🎉 The best part? It happened organically—just from YouTube and word of mouth, without even posting on my personal Instagram.
Speaking of exposure, I just found out that brands submit their products to magazines to be featured. I always assumed magazines discovered brands, but now I’m wondering—when a company says they’ve been “featured,” does that mean a full article, a mention, or just an ad tucked in the back?
And let’s get into Plan B. Is having a backup plan smart, or is it secretly taking energy away from Plan A? How many businesses fail because we don’t go all in?
At the end of the day, don’t forget to drink your water, mind your business, and be the version of you that makes you happiest. And remember—if you live for praise, you’ll die by the boos. 💡💖
XO,
Alisha Michelle
